Here are three activities to raise environmental awareness in the classroom:

1. Creating a school garden

Creating a school garden is an excellent way to teach students about agriculture, ecology and nutrition. You can create a small garden in the schoolyard or in pots in the classroom, with which you can:

– Teach children about the growth cycle of plants.

– Encourage responsibility and care for plants.

– Promote self-sufficiency and the importance of sustainable agriculture.

2. Start a recycling project in the classroom.

The 3Rs stand for Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They are a fundamental principle of waste management and environmental sustainability that seeks to minimize the environmental impact of our actions. Implementing a recycling program in the classroom can be a good way to promote the importance of environmental conservation among students.

Here are some suggestions for working on sustainability in the classroom:

– Create recycling stations for paper, plastic and organic waste to correctly separate waste in specific containers.

– Make crafts with recycled materials. We can give a second life to many things, such as food packaging, to prevent them from becoming waste and give them a new purpose.

– To explain in class what the 3Rs are and how to apply them during World Environment Day, we propose a video from Smile and Learn with which you can start a debate on the importance of responsible consumption:

3. In the Science area of Smile and Learn you can find different activities to learn about the environment.

How about if we become mayors for a day and commit to making the city much cleaner and more environmentally friendly? This is what you can do in the interactive game Green City, which helps students to learn about transportation, energy and sustainable city planning, all while having fun at the same time.

Join us on this journey towards a greener and more sustainable future!

If you haven’t tried our educational platform yet, you can do so for free by filling out the form below.

Environmental awareness from an early age not only fosters respect for nature, but also develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
